Topical Ivermectin 1% Cream — FDA-Approved for Rosacea

Topical ivermectin 1% cream (brand: Soolantra®) is an FDA-approved prescription cream for the inflammatory lesions of rosacea. It is also occasionally prescribed off-label for certain skin parasitic conditions. TexMed dispenses 30g tubes from our Texas pharmacy after pharmacist consultation.

How topical ivermectin works on rosacea

Ivermectin has both anti-inflammatory and antiparasitic activity against Demodex folliculorum mites, which are implicated in papulopustular rosacea. Daily application has been shown in clinical trials to significantly reduce inflammatory lesion counts.

How to apply ivermectin cream

  1. Wash and dry the affected area gently.
  2. Apply a pea-sized amount once daily, in the evening.
  3. Spread a thin layer across each affected area — cheeks, forehead, chin, nose.
  4. Avoid eyes, lips, and mucous membranes.

When to expect results

Most patients see meaningful improvement after 8–12 weeks of consistent nightly use. Continue treatment for the full course recommended by your pharmacist.

Side effects

Mild burning, skin irritation, or dryness can occur in the first 1–2 weeks. Persistent or worsening reactions should be reported to your pharmacist.
